Affiliate Resources

When it comes to affiliate marketing, there is an absolute ton of information on the web. For the most part, the vast majority of it is either out of date or just completely wrong. Remember, many of the sources you see are trying to sell you their book or whatever, so take what they say with a grain of salt.

We are not trying to sell you anything and we've done affiliate marketing for years. In fact, we still do in addition to running PowerPayout.com. Based on our years of experience both making expensive mistakes, learning from them and then having tremendous success, here are some basics of affiliate marketing you can count on.

What Is Affiliate Marketing?

First off - what is affiliate marketing? It is simply the sending of traffic by you to the site of an advertiser. When certain steps occur as defined by the program, you get paid. It is that simple.

What Types of Affiliate Programs Does PowerPayout Offer?

While the nature of affiliate marketing is fairly simple, there are different ways to go about it as an affiliate. PowerPayout.com offers a variety of different approaches that are defined by the particular advertiser program offered. They include:

Cost Per Click - this is the simplest of programs. Known as "CPC", you get paid for each unique visitor you send. To stop abuse, you may only use certain keywords provided by PowerPayout.

Cost Per Thousand Impressions - Similar to the cost per click approach, this payout is based on a thousand impressions sent by you to the advertising program in question. Again, the impressions must be produced from a pre-approved keyword list to avoid abuse.

Cost Per Lead - A "CPL" is a program wherein you get paid when a visitor you send fills out a form and submits it. The visitor must be legitimate and from a country designated by the Advertiser.

Cost Per Acquisition - Also known as "CPA", a cost per acquisition program offered by PowerPayout.com is pretty much what it sounds like. You receive a commission each time a visitor you send takes an action defined by the advertiser program. This can be making a purchase or submitting an inquiry in most cases.

How Do I Get Visitors?

There are a wide variety of ways you can produce visitors to affiliate programs. They include things such as search engine optimization, pay-per-click, article marketing and email marketing. Here is a quick summary of each.

Search engine optimization is the manipulation of a site for the purpose of getting your site ranked in the top 10 on Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines for desired keyword phrases. The best tool for locating keyword phrases for your niche is Wordtracker.com. Once you have them, you want to implement them into the meta tags of your site and sprinkle them throughout the text of your page. As strange as it sounds, the book Search Engine Optimization for Dummies is an excellent place to start.

Pay-per-click marketing should be done through Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing. Each system allows you to place advertisements on the search results for each engine. If you do a search on Google or Yahoo, you will see ads listed down the right hand column. Those are PPC ads. When someone clicks your ad, you are charged a fee based on what you have bid to be in that position. PPC used to be very easy, but is a bit more complex now. Make sure to read up on the subject so you know what you are doing. Regardless, it is a great way to produce traffic immediately.

Article advertising is very popular because it costs you nothing but time and effort. You write articles and submit them to article directories. In the author area of the article, you include links to your site. Other sites will pick up the articles and publish them on their sites. When people read the articles, they click through to your site and you have traffic! This is another method for generating traffic quickly.

Email marketing is a very complex subject. The CAN-SPAM Act must be complied with and there are ways to do it right and wrong. We suggest you speak with a email marketing firm about doing this type of work as it is not for the meek, but it can produce tremendous results.
